Lee Priest - Best of Bodybuilders Reality Series 2 DVD Set.

1987 IFBB German Grand Prix (Autumn)

Held in Germany, an incredibly brilliant group of 20 top IFBB professionals gathered in the Essen at the Gruga-Halle, right next to the famous FIBO Expo Convention Centre. The date was November 1st, 1987 – on the day after the Mr. Olympia held in Sweden. It was almost a re-run of the Olympia contest!

These were the best pros from USA and Europe from the mid to late 80s. What a lineup and what a battle for supremacy between the top 3 in Haney, Gaspari and Labrada.
It was so close with Lee Haney - thanks to the help of his superb "V" shape and overall perfection - just toppling the massive and totally shredded physique of Rich Gaspari. Lee Labrada - "Mr. Symmetry" was also flawless in finishing a very close 3rd. This is rare closeup contest footage of these top champions in their all-time best condition.

The special bonus feature in the DVD is the PREJUDGING HIGHLIGHTS, in which you see comparisons between groups of 3 athletes, shot in tight closeups, doing compulsories. Great champions is fantastic shape, all shot with brilliant lighting. This is one of the best quality grand prix recordings of the eighties and as such is a DVD ahead of its time!

For the many Haney fans, it is one of the few DVDs showing LEE HANEY winning a Grand Prix at his peak. Not to be missed!

Such was the quality of this field, Lee Haney not only won this Grand Prix and many more, he ended up winning 8 Mr. Olympia titles. Gaspari and Labrada both were very worthy second place getters at the Mr. Olympia in their illustrious careers. The standard was so high that some of the other greats of the 80s did not make top 10, such as Bob Paris, Ed Kawak, Bertil Fox, Peter Hensel etc.

1971, 1972, 1973 NABBA Universes Revisited

This priceless footage was discovered in our archives and is now presented for all of the fans who appreciate these very early Universe contests. Zane later went on to win 3 Mr. Olympia titles 1977-1979 and Chris Dickerson won the 1982 Mr. Olympia crown.

ROB MELLO – Cut to Perfection

Rob Mello was the 1993 NPC Nationals champion in the Middleweight Class, narrowly losing the overall title to Mike Francois. Rob was an outstanding amateur athlete in the 90s, gaining his pro card and making a significant mark on the pro scene.

In this DVD you will see all of the video recorded on Rob throughout his stellar career. He was rated as one of America’s best young bodybuilders in the early 90s with a flawless physique, notable for amazing symmetry and muscularity. See his gym workout in this condition in 1991.

You again see a shredded Rob in 1993 when he wins the NPC Nationals, showing his perfectly balanced physique and incredible abdominal development. Rob had a degree of separation rarely seen today. He would have been a star of the 202 Class if it had existed back then!

Chris Dickerson – 1982 Mr. Olympia: The Final Chapter

Those at the 2001 Mr Olympia heard Chris Dickerson sing in his fine operatic voice - now you can see him at his physical peak in 1982, on the night before he won the Mr. Olympia crown.

This is a rare gem of only 30 minutes, where he pumps, oils and poses in tank top and trunks.
Shot in our London studio, Chris was at his absolute physical peak as he prepared to take the Mr. Olympia title next day.

See many great closeups of this incredible physique. In particular Chris flexes those massive calves for our camera!

As far as we know this was the first and only time a feature film has been shot with a Mr. Olympia winner literally hours before the prejudging.

This was also the last time we worked with the great champion CHRIS DICKERSON, a multi Mr. Universe winner and now Mr. Olympia champion.

He announced his retirement at the end of the Olympia contest, paying tribute to his coach Bill Pearl. Fortunately for the fans, Chris subsequently competed for another 12 years.

For those of you who do not yet know JAMES LLEWELLIN, here is some background info on him, in his own words, from his web site with permission:

"I'll give you all a little bit of background first.

I first started competing in 2003 and since then I have competed around 16 times. I started seriously training around 8 years ago. I stepped it up a couple of years later when a training partner of mine said that I had shit genetics and that I would never make a bodybuilder. So from that day I decided I would compete and after around 9 months I decided to enter my first show which out of 13 competitors, I won.

Later that year I was invited to compete in the NABBA UK First Timers finals which I also won.
A week after that victory I entered my first IFBB show (UKBFF) and won the Intermediate category which gave me an invite to the UKBFF British Finals in 2004.

About half way through 2004 I decided that I would enter another qualifier so I could compete in the Men's Middleweight category and not the Intermediate Class. I won the qualifier then went on to take 3rd in the Men's Middleweight class at the British Championships - I was totally stoked!!

In 2005 I came back again after qualifying late in 2004, again as a Middleweight. This I won again, and it enabled me to compete in the 2005 British Finals. I won the Middleweight British title this year but missed out on the overall title.

In 2006 I took a little time away from the IFBB and competed with WABBA where I won the British Title and the Overall and came 5th in the World Championships in the Short Class.

In 2007 I decided I wanted to come back into the IFBB, so I had to re-qualify to compete at the finals. I again won my qualifier, this time as a Light heavyweight and then came runner up to Flex Lewis in the Light heavyweight category at the British Finals.

In 2008 I teamed up with Flex's mentor, Neil Hill. He took me back down to being a Middleweight again and I won the Middleweight title once again.
However this time I took the Overall British Champion title and with it the single pro card that the UK give out each year!

That now brings us up to date.

After 5 years of competing and doing numerous guest spots I decided that I would take 2009 out of the competitive arena and spend time growing my PT and Nutritionist business. As a result I am training and looking after around 12 athletes this year, so it’s keeping me very busy. My pro career will kick off next year, 2010, when I hit the 202 class and I can't bloody wait.

I am 5'4" and sitting at around 200lbs at the moment. I have competed as heavy as 196lbs and as light as 175lbs last year. For my first pro show I will be around 7-10lbs heavier but with the conditioning that helped me win the overall last year.

So that’s pretty much it.

NUTRITION
My diet is generally 7 meals daily which includes my PWO shake, so 6 solid meals daily.
The first phase was really to get me eating a lot of food regularly to get my metabolism running. I like my food and have no problem eating, but Neil actually made me eat more! I kept saying 'I don’t feel like I am dieting' and he always said 'make the most of it, it wont last!!!'
He was right, by 3-4 weeks out I was doing 2 hours of cardio daily and eating very few carbs. I used to fantasize about my cheat meal as soon as the last one was eaten!!
The diet was very balanced and included fruit, veg, various protein and carb sources including whole-wheat bread, steak, oily fish, oats, sweet potato etc.

My training has always been basic. Off season I train each body part every 10 days but pre contest I train with a more conventional 7 day split.
I like to train hard and heavy and for only around 40-50 mins. I go to failure on 1 set only as a general rule, and do anywhere between 6 and 12 sets per body part, and generally 8-15 reps (more for legs though).

Neil works solely on weight loss. He gave me a target each week and I knew with my protein high that the weight I was losing was mainly fat. I had to come in around 14lbs lighter than in 2007 so I did lose a little muscle too. He believes in depleting the body right down, then heavily loading for the last 3-4 days prior to a show. Man, I was sick of carbs after the load, I just wanted a steak and salad!!

I spent this weekend with him and yet again he ruined me in the gym. He is a wonderful family man and Neil his wife and children came over to us for a meal, and then the next night he cooked for me and my wife; a nice traditional roast chicken with rhubarb crumble for pudding!!! He likes his off season!! LOL!!

DIET TO GAIN SIZE
Here is a plan that I would advocate to anyone wanting to pack on some size. It may be too carb heavy for some of you, but for me it works a treat.
If you like your food, then you'll like this one!

5.30am Rise

6.30am CARDIO (20 mins)

Meal 1 (8am) 100g oats, 70g whey protein, 50g granola, 20g raisins, 20g cashew nuts, 250ml semi skimmed milk, apple.

9.30am TRAIN

Meal 2 (10am-11am) 5 whole eggs, 3 pieces of whole wheat bread SWAPPED FOR 55g Whey Isolate, 60g WMS on training days.

Meal 3 (1pm) 200g chicken, 70g basmati rice, veg, pineapple 10g olive oil.

Meal 4 (3pm) 240g salmon, 300g sweet potato, veg, pineapple.

Meal 5 (5pm) 70g of MP Total protein, 400ml semi skimmed milk, 50g oats. (Blended) plus banana OR 5 whole eggs, 3 pieces of whole wheat bread, pineapple.

Meal 6 (7pm) 250g steak, 300g potatoes, vegetables, yoghurt with 1 scoop of whey Protein, pineapple.

Meal 7 (10pm) 100g oats, 70g Whey Protein, 50g granola, 20g cashew nuts, 250ml semi skimmed milk. (same as breakfast)

10.30-11.00pm Retire

Meal 8 (2am) 50g oats, 40g Whey Protein, 200ml semi skimmed milk, tablespoon of peanut butter.

I drink freely during the day and never have a fixed amount that I set myself to drink. It would never be less than 4 litres daily and would be water or sugar free squash.

This year I have been a lot more instinctive about my diet and if I am hungry, I will eat more and vice versa. However, I will always make sure I get my protein requirements in each meal even if the carbs are reduced or increased.

I am a big believer in variety and eat whole foods where possible. In the off season you will use a few more whey and MRP supplements just to get the required food input, but pre contest its all solid except PWO.

I use multi vit/minerals as well as a super B complex plus a pre workout creatine/NOX formula. Apart from that I use very few supplements in the off season as my diet has pretty much everything in it I need.

Art Atwood - I was born on December 27, 1973 in Wisconsin. I grew up on competitive sports, mainly football and track. I started training with weights when I was twelve to increase my speed and power. I was very fortunate to have coaches and an older brother who were knowledgeable and committed to intense training. They were my major motivators and taught me the basics of weight training.

Now, 16 years later, I have mastered the sport of bodybuilding. Taking my inner drive to be the best. I utilized all my efforts to transform my body into a walking form of "Art". Through mind blowing training sessions and by eating tremendous amounts of chickens and cows. I have built a body that is powerful and ultimately unique. God has blessed me to be able to take my passion for bodybuilding and use it to support myself and encourage others to get into the best shape of their lives.

I met T.J. at one of my contests through a mutual friend and after talking with him for only a few minutes, I could tell that he had "it." That "it" is very unique and rare quality that few people own. "It" is a fire that burns deep within and a personal drive to be the best. T.J. called me up one day and gave me an opportunity to come down to Dallas to build my supplement empire. Gratefully, I took the offer and things started to really happen for the both of us. We started training together and it was a BLAST! We mad this video to capture our sessions together and I believe you will really enjoy it!

T.J. Humphreys - I started bodybuilding in the summer of 2004 on a bet from a friend of mine in Colorado. He dared me to compete, and I had no desire to get up in front of a thousand people in a bikini, but Justin told me something that I will never forget... he asked me to compete for all of the guys out there who bust their asses in the gym but don't have the genetics to win. And, in June of 2006, I got my first contract with Prolab Nutrition as their featured athlete, and have featured Prolab products in FLEX and Muscle and Fitness magazines.

Kris Dim - Dimvasion

He is now established as one of the top pro bodybuilders in the world and the best Asian bodybuilder of all-time, as well as a successful businessman and family man, but in the beginning the odds were stacked against Kris Dim. He was born on May 7, 1973 in the war-ravaged and impoverished land of Cambodia, where one out of every four citizens died under a barbarous dictatorship.

When Dim was four he escaped with his family, immigrating to America. A refugee, he quickly grew to love his new country. Dim and his family lived for eight years in Arlington, Virginia. Then, when he was 12, they moved to Northern California, eventually settling in Sacramento, where he has remained ever since. He played soccer throughout his youth, but it was wrestling in high school that introduced the 98-pounder to bodybuilding.

Dim first lifted weights at home, but when he was 15 he joined a commercial gym. Noting his mass improvements, Dim's wrestling coach suggested he try a bodybuilding show. At 17, he entered and won his first contest, the teenage division of the North Bay Bodybuilding Championships. A year later, he won the Teenage California. When Dim won the middleweight class of the 1996 California Bodybuilding Championships, he was introduced to one of the sponsors, Max Muscle stores. "I didn't know what they were, but when I found out, I just knew right away what I wanted to do. I wanted to own one," Dim declares.

When he inquired about a franchise, it seemed an idle fantasy to everyone but him. He had very little savings, he was attending college, and he and future wife, Sylvia, were expecting their first child. Still, Dim wouldn't be deterred. He quit school and took on a second full-time job. Less than a year after he first heard of Max Muscle, Dim had saved enough to open his own Sacramento franchise. He was 23. He managed the store from opening to closing. My biggest fear is failure, Dim explains, and because of that, I always motivate myself twice as hard. The store thrived. Today, Dim continues to keep the same long hours behind the counters, wedging his bodybuilding into the time not occupied by his family and his business.

When 24-year-old Dim finished sixth in the middleweight class of his first pro qualifier, the 1997 USA Championships, he was confident his hobby would soon become a profession. Little did he know then it would take 10 additional tries before he earned pro status. In 2002, Dim came in leaner and fuller and won the light-heavyweight class of the USA Championships. Many felt his was the most impressive physique in the show, but he failed to take home one of the two pro cards. Next came two second-place finishes, at the 2002 Nationals and again at the 2003 USA.

The 2003 Nationals was a blowout, with Dim easily winning the light-heavyweight class and a pro status. The only controversy was his not taking the overall title. In 2004, Dim accomplished the rare feat of qualifying for the Mr. Olympia in his first IFBB contest (the San Francisco Pro Invitational). He then went on to establish himself as rookie of the year with a twelfth place finish in the Mr. O and three straight posedown finishes in the European Tour, qualifying for the 2005 Mr. Olympia.

For unfaltering support, Dim credits his wife, Sylvia; sons Joshua and Nathan; half-sister Julie; nutritional advisor Milos Sarcev; and training partner/business mentor Leonard Crabtree. In the end though, Dim's drive to succeed as a bodybuilder and businessman comes from somewhere deep inside, born somewhere far away a never-ending quest for betterment. In only his rookie year in the IFBB, he beat such established pros as Gustavo Badell, Ahmad Haidar, Troy Alves and Markus Ruhl. The Dimvasion of the pro ranks has begun. Considering how far he's already come against such great odds, there's no limit on how far Kris Dim can go in the future.

THE 5 STRONGMAN EVENTS FOR 2010

1. Timber Lift - In this event, also known as the Farmer's Carry, contestants lift 865 lbs. of barn timbers bolted together. They have 30 sec. to carry the 865 lbs load up a 32 ft. inclined ramp.
2. Manhood Stones - Contestants lift round stones weighing up to 525 pounds over a bar approximately 48 inches high.
3. Apollon's Wheel -This unique barbell was made famous by turn-of-the-century strongman Louis "Apollon" Uni. The barbell resembles two train wheels welded (weights do not rotate) to a thick bar (1.92 inches in diameter) for a total weight of 366 lbs. Contestants will lift the wheels from the floor to overhead as many times as possible in two minutes.
4. Tire Deadlift - Contestants will lift a specially designed 14 foot long bar weighted with tires. Each tire weighs approx. 100 lbs, and the beginning weight will be approx. 750 lbs.
5. The Circus Dumbell - Contestants will lift a replica of a "Circus" dumbbell, which were used by professional Strongmen from the early 20th century. The dumbbell weighs 202 lbs. and has a very big handle which is 3 inches in diameter. The men will use one hand at a time and lift the dumbbell overhead as many times as possible in 90 sec.

This year, in addition to the Arnold Strongman Classic's traditional tests of total body strength, there was an entirely new feature for the crowds at the Arnold Fitness EXPO. This new feature, "Mighty Mitts," was sponsored by MHP, and it did not involve the Arnold Strongman competitors. Instead, it showcase ten men who are world-famous for the strength of their hands. The Grip Giants who have been selected to take part in this event are the very best in the world. It will be an extra attraction for fans of Strongman contests as well as for aficionados of "grip feats."

These men faced four challenges with $1,000 per event on offer. In our Extra Scenes we have included the 2 most visually exciting events, The Jowett Anvil and Sorin’s Monster. These challenges took place on the Expo Stage before and after the Strongman events.

The Mighty Mitts Challenges we included in the DVD for 2010 were these 2 strength feats:

1. THE JOWETT ANVIL.
In the early years of the 20th century, George F. Jowett was a very prominent figure in the physical culture world as a writer, lifter, strongman and promoter. One of the stunts for which he is most famous featured a large blacksmith's anvil, which he supposedly gripped by the horn with one hand, swung up to his shoulder, flipped so that he caught it upside down in his hand, and then pressed over his head. Jowett claimed to be the only man who could do this feat. However, leading strength historians are in agreement that Jowett, who was also famous for his exaggerations, never made such a lift. In any case, Jowett's own anvil will be used
in the challenge.

It weighs approximately 163 pounds and will be placed on the platform with its horn pointing upward. The challenge will be to simply grasp it by the horn with either hand, lift it off the ground and walk/run as far as possible forth and back across the front part of the 50' stage within 30 seconds. The prize-money ($1000) will go to the man who carries it the greatest distance. Only chalk will be allowed for this challenge and for all others.

2. SORIN'S MONSTER.
Richard Sorin, founder and owner of the Sorinex Equipment Company and himself one of the legends of hand strength, will provide a huge, circus-type barbell weighing approximately 500 pounds and featuring a bar two inches in diameter; this bar will not rotate within the spheres in any way. The challenge will be to deadlift the bar for as many repetitions as possible within 30 seconds using a double-overhand (pronated) grip.
Sumo and traditional deadlifting styles are both permitted and the bell may be "hitched" on the way up as long as the lifter is standing straight at the end of the lift. The barbell will have to touch the platform on every rep after the referee has given the "Down" signal, and a "hook grip" will not be allowed.

A contestant may put the barbell down between reps if he likes, or he may simply touch the platform before making another attempt to deadlift it. If no one deadlifts the Monster, the prize-money will be given to the man who pulls the bar the greatest distance off the platform, and if more than one person makes at least one successful lift and there is a tie in the number of reps the prize-money will be split.

Rich Williams won all 3 events. None of the competitors in the 2010 Mighty Mitts competition were able to lift the Mark Henry bell out of the box.

2009 NEW YORK PRO FINAL RESULTS
"Centopani Wins In NY Pro, English Wins 202, LeFrancois Wins Women's."

In an impressive debut performance, Evan Centopani has won the 2009 IFBB New York Pro. Thanks to a powerful combination of size, shape, conditioning and presentation, the 27-year-old made for a popular winner with the New York City crowd. Along with an Olympia qualification the rookie pro takes home a cool $15k and a hefty NY Pro ring.

Coming in second was big Dennis James, who at 247 pounds was just a pound less than at the Arnold, but a whole lot tighter. Look for DJ to attempt to improve upon his placing in one to three shows (according to Dennis himself) prior to the Olympia.

A chorus of boos resounded through the halls of the Tribeca Performing Arts Center when Marcus Ruhl was announced in third. Always a popular performer, Ruhl didn't disappoint in terms of freak factor, but for fans of aesthetics, the Ruhl physique is lacking.

A slightly off Silvio Samuel finished fourth, uncharacteristically smooth and seemingly tired, or possibly dejected over his early low callout.

Hidetada Yamagishi, in one of his best performances to date, drew the last Olympia qualification of the evening, looking sharp and well-tanned.

So, add Evan Centopani and Marcus Ruhl to this year's Olympia lineup in a show that's shaping up to be one of the most competitive in its 44-year history.

FLEX would like to congratulate Evan Centopani on his win and congratulate promoter Steve Weinberger on yet another smooth and assured production here in New York, New York.

In what turned out to be an extremely competitive 202 division, New York's own Kevin English has taken top honors for a second consecutive year. Despite an imbalance between his right and left legs and a slightly watery midsection English is mighty impressive, carrying what looks more like 220 than 202 pounds of muscle on his frame. His chest is particularly improved and he sports an upper body reminiscent of the great Sergio Oliva's.

Finishing second in his second consecutive show was Mark Dugdale, with a shaved head and excellent conditioning. He'll never be the widest guy onstage, but when it comes to sharp muscularity he's hard to beat.

Last year's runner-up, Dave Henry, accepted third place honors to a rousing chorus of boos. While he had his usual upper body thickness on full display, the conditioning wasn't enough to place him higher.

For a second consecutive year Kevin English has put himself in position as a favorite for 202 Olympia honors. We'll all have to wait and see if he can carry his mid-season success through September.

In the women's competition Cathy LeFrancois repeated her victory here last year with a popular win in the Big Apple. With her good looks, refined musculature and omnipresent smile she won the hearts of the New York crowd and NY Pro judges alike.

Taking the runner-up spot was 53-year-old Betty Pariso, who seems to be getting more muscular with each passing year.

Right behind Pariso in third was the "Nubian Caribbean Queen", Rosemary Jennings, who is among the more muscular female competitors in bodybuilding today. With a polished presentation and no weak bodyparts she aslo put herself in good standing for the upcoming Olympia.

The Legend of Wellness – Frank Zane

When you mention the name Frank Zane to a fitness or bodybuilding athlete, chances are their eyes will widen in worship over the man who made bodybuilding symmetry the standard of a quality physique. Frank Zane is a native to Pennsylvania and a three-time Mr. Olympia winner from 1977-1979. He is truly one the most notable bodybuilders in the history of the sport, defeating Arnold Schwarzenneger in the 1968 Mr. Universe Competition in Miami, Florida, and won Mr. Universe two more times in London, England in 1970 and 1972. In 1968, Frank also won the Mr. America in New York City, and Mr. World 1969 in Brugge, Belgium. In his 22-year competitive career, Frank won over 150 awards and was inducted into the Joe Weider Bodybuilding Hall of Fame in 1994.

Frank Zane began bodybuilding at age 14, out of a need to improve his physical well-being and protect himself and his younger brother, Adam. As a straight ‘A’ student, Frank recalls, “My Brother and I were the only Protestant kids in a totally Catholic town. We were persecuted! My brother was a precocious kid, a very good athlete and he would get into a lot of fights; so, I’d have to break them up. I wanted to feel more secure so, I tried different things like boxing, wrestling and all of that stuff. Then I discovered bodybuilding.” Frank trained briefly at a local YMCA. then bought a weight lifting set for home and he says, “In two weeks, muscles were coming out all over!

That really encouraged me, so I was very hungry for it. I pursued it until I was about 18, then I went into my first competition.” Frank graduated first in his high school class of 1960 in Edwardsville, Pennsylvania, winning a college scholarship. He earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology from California State University-Los Angeles in 1977. Frank also received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education from Wilkes University, Wilkes Barre, Pennsylvania in 1964, and was awarded a Master of Arts Degree in Experimental Psychology from California State University - San Bernardino, California in 1990.

Frank taught Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics, Natural Sciences, Physical Education, and Psychology in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Florida, and Los Angeles, California. from 1964 through 1977. Frank loved teaching because he wanted a job that would allow him to train and work at the same time. “Teaching seemed to fit the bill,” says Frank. “It wasn’t a lot of money, but I had he summers off.” In 1969, Frank moved to California and earned a degree in psychology, while landing another teaching job while training. Shortly thereafter, Frank moved and taught in Florida where he met his wife, Christine, and soon won the Mr. Universe and Mr. America.

Conceive, Believe & Achieve starring Porter Cottrell

Porter Cottrell came to prominence in 1988 when he won the overall title at the NPC Junior National Championships. His next major victory was the light-heavyweight class at the 1991 NPC National Championships. Although he lost the Overall Title to Kevin Levrone, he still achieved IFBB Professional status.

Porter Cottrell talks about his work as a fireman at the beginning of the video. He also shows himself as a 17 year old and says he wasn't big and muscular back then. However he was genetically gifted with great shoulders and a big build. He explains how hard he has worked to achieve his physique. Porter does mention that it is genetics that determine how far you may to go in the sport.

Included in the DVD is a trip to the gym with Porter where he shows us his style and form when training with some pumping and tensing thrown in. He explains his training philosophy in its simple, most basic form: "Quality, not quantity".

You also see an overview of his career up to the time of the making of the original video, and hear of his work as a fireman. Typical of Porter's total professionalism in all he does, you see the Cottrell physique in great shape, big and ripped.

The DVD does include B&W segments for special effect. It is a rare privilege to observe a great pro bodybuilder who has managed to combine a sensible bodybuilding lifestyle with a healthy outlook on life.

Muscletime Titans Vol. 6 - Gustavo Badell - The Challenger

Gustavo Badell is the man who beat Ronnie Coleman and Jay Cutler in the 2005 Mr. Olympia Challenge round!! The DVD was filmed a few days out from the 2006 Arnold Classic in Gustavo's home town of Las Vegas. Also see bonus footage from the 2004 GNC and back stage at the 2006 Arnold Classic contests.

Gustavo Badell Bio:

Gustavo Badell was born on November 3, 1972 in Venezuela. He currently resides in Puerto Rico with his wife and two kids. Gustavo stands only 5'8" but weighs in on stage at a ripped 240 pounds. Of course, Gustavo must do a clean bulk prior to a contest where his weight can get as high as 270 pounds. He still keeps a low bodyfat during his pre-contest bulk, which is why Gustavo can easily switch from off-season to pre-contest mode very easily.

At the age of 15, Gustavo was actively involved with contact sports such as boxing and kickboxing. Two years later he started becoming involved with amateur boxing but was too skinny make a name for himself. His trainer suggested that he should start weight lifting to put on weight, and he then followed the rigors of an intense workout. After noticing his great genetics, and arms that were almost too big for his body, his fellow gym members suggested that he should get into bodybuilding. Gustavo never thought twice!

Gustavo`s bodybuilding career started slowly, but once he found a better rythm for himself, he has become one of the better pro bodybuilders in the IFBB.

2010 NABBA MISS BRITAIN FINALS PREJUDGING and SHOW

The 2010 NABBA Miss Britain Finals was held in Southport, England on the 29th of May. There were 3 FIGURE CLASSES being TONED FIGURE and TRAINED FIGURE CLASSES 1 and 2.
This DVD presents the complete prejudging and show with all the posing routines and all the comparisons through to the final awards and Overall Trained Figure posedown and award to Rosanna Harte who represented the North East.

MISS TONED FIGURE
The winner of this very high standard class of 18 was the amazing NATALIE WOOD - North West, with RIA WARD – North East in second place and the outstanding Scot LYNN CARMICHAEL in 3rd place.

MISS TRAINED FIGURE CLASS 2
In first place was the dynamic poser, ROSANNA HARTE – North East, who displayed to perfection her flawless symmetry, and outstanding condition. It was obvious from her routine that Rosanna has also had training in ballet dancing such was the style and charisma she brought to her performance. I have seen none better! In second place was MICHELLE CALLAGHAN – also North East with GAIL BELLINGHAM - Midlands taking out an excellent 3rd place.

MISS TRAINED FIGURE CLASS 1
This was a tough class of 9 outstanding Figure competitors with JODY SHUTTLEWORTH – North East overpowering the rest of the class with her size, shape and condition. In second place in the best shape of her life, it was REBECCA WILLIAMS – North East and in 3rd place a very impressive and greatly improved DANIELLE FINDLAY – Midlands. What made it even more impressive for Danielle was her beating last year winner in JO SPERRING – West, who had to settle for 4th place.

The OVERALL TRAINED FIGURE MISS BRITAIN title went to ROSANNA HARTE.

PREJUDGING & FINALS

This inaugural Stryker Pro event in Arizona was staged by StrykerX Productions in the magnificent Ikeda Theatre at the Mesa Arts Center. It was presented in front of a large and appreciative audience.

Prejudging commenced with the 202 Class followed by the prejudging of 27 outstanding bodybuilders in the Open Men’s Pro Class. All comparisons for each class are included in the DVD.

The evening finals soon got down to business with the posing routines of the 202 Class followed by the routines by the Open Class men, followed by all the awards for both classes.
It was a wonderful victory for MELVIN ANTHONY over HIDETADA YAMAGISHI with TONEY FREEMAN in third place.

In the 202 Class it was a first ever Pro victory for the very deserving ROC SHABAZZ. Second placed Ahmad Ahmad also displayed fantastic shape and great condition.

1983 IFBB Amateur World Championships (Mr Universe) - The Prejudging

This was a sensational contest, held outdoors in a huge amphitheatre in central Singapore. I took a group of enthusiastic Adelaide bodybuilding fans to this contest as tour leader. It was an experience of a life time for everyone.

In the heavyweight class it was a battle of the giants between a young, ripped and superb Berry DeMey and a mature and sensational Bob Paris. I do not know how close it was on the judges' sheets but in my mind it was a toss up and could have gone either way. Ralf Moeller was anothet giant, literally and dwarfed the others during the posedown. Christian Janatsch was there with his girlfriend Rachel McLish, Ms Olympia. Rachel guest posed at the evening finals.

Chuck Williams and Charles Glass, both from USA turned out to be very strong and convincing winners of their respective classes as was Appie Steenbeek from Holland and Herman Hoffend from West Germany.

After the contest was over, I approached the 3 USA class winners, Paris, Williams and Glass to arrange video and photo shoots next day at poolside. Sadly Bob Paris declined but Glass and Williams more than made up for it, turning on a sensational display of hard, ripped 100% in condition muscle for my cameras. 1982 Mr Olympia - THE BATTLE OF CHAMPIONS

This historic DVD is a completely different version than any previously offered. It is the hardcore bodybuilding version of the '82 Olympia, now on DVD.

This exciting video covering the greatest physiques in the world, brings you all the drama, blood, sweat and tension of Chris Dickerson's epic victory in the 1982 Mr Olympia contest held in London. Shot on Super 8 sound film.

Although all 16 men are shown, this video concentrates on the top eight champions as they do battle through each of the three rounds of judging and on to the evening show and final presentation.

We take a different view point being that of combat by comparison, showing you the all important side by side judging comparisons and pose downs between these top men as they strive for victory. You can judge and compare your placings of the top men with the opinions of the official judges, and the comments you will hear from the audience.

However, anything can happen during the free posing round and the atmosphere was electric. Highlights for me included the immaculate and totally professional stage presentations of Chris Dickerson and Mohamed Makkawy, the best ever condition, shape and proportion of Samir, the massive and rock hard muscle of Viator, and the sheer size of Bertil Fox.

Tom Platz was huge and in fact the biggest I have ever seen him, and no professional boby builder has more stage charisma than Tom who it seems is a probable winner in the future. His massive legs are still years ahead of those to be found supporting any other body builder. For Tom's many fans, this video has all the Platz footage, both judging and final.

For Zane's fans he had a completely new routine which included his own unique poses he has made famous such as the vacuum and hands over head poses. He almost stole the title from Dickerson and in many people's eyes was a winner.

Al Beckles went into this contest as one of the hot favourites and he too looked absolutely fantastic, as did Lance Dreher. Dreher had probably the biggest arms, in the famous Larry Scott posing style.

However, there can only be one winner, and CHRIS DICKERSON was a well deserving and popular winner in this his final contest. Chris was superb in all areas - symmetry, cuts, presentation, charisma, condition and muscle density. He had it all together on the day in a totally professional manner that showed class, experience and attention to fine detail. A fitting triumph to climax the competitive career of on the the world's greatest body builders. In his victory speech Chris thanked the great Bill Pearl for all the assistance he had given him.

Held October 4th, 1980 at the Opera House in Sydney, Australia. This is the contest in which Arnold made his "comeback" after five years of retirement, and gained his seventh Mr. Olympia title.

Besides Arnold, the line up also included Mike Mentzer, Chris Dickerson, Frank Zane, Boyer Coe, Roy Duval, Casey Viator, Roy Callender, Ken Waller, Samir Bannout, Tom Platz, Danny Padilla, Roger Walker, etc.. Includes prejudging footage plus the show.

The most controversial Mr. Olympia of all time! Strictly a hard core contest video showing all competitors, and quite different to the DVD called "The Comeback".

This is Digitally remastered film to DVD transfer, music added in places. Mostly live soundtrack is heard, with special comments from Wayne Gallasch who filmed this historic contest.

Its Steve Buccilli again.
I received the 1980 Mr. Olympia dvd (2 disc set). As I watched it tears almost came to my eyes. What a great thing you have done for the sport to perserve the memories and contest on footage.

Its amazing to see how the sport has progressed, but at the same time how impressive the guys in that show where.

Even though they were 25 to 60 lbs (or 12.5 kgs, to 27 kgs) lighter then todays athletes they still impressed me. Not only that but its my opinion that they looked better. No distended guts, and the posing routines were all majestic.

Then it hit me. You were there! You got to see it! Its my opinion that you have lived a charmed life.

I cannot thank you and your family, and your company enough for doing what you have done. If I ever win $1,000,000.00 I'll buy your entire stock of dvd's and ! videos!

1977 WABBA World Championships: Amateur & Professional - Prejudging & Show

This prestigious men's event was staged by Serge Nubret in Paris in November 1977.

One of the show highlights was the Lifetime Achievement Award presented to special guest STEVE REEVES by Serge Nubret.

The show was a sell-out with a fantastic, screaming audience of 3000 crazy fans, typical of events held in Paris.

Shot on film with music added, the DVD includes all of the highlights from the Prejudging and Show.

See AHMET ENUNLU win the posedown to become Overall WABBA Amateur Mr. World. In the pose-down he defeated Mr. Universe champions such as BILL RICHARDSON and WILFRED SYLVESTER.

In the Pro division see a rampant SERGIO OLIVA destroy his main opposition in Tony Emmott and Bill Grant to become Pro Mr World. All of the Pro competitors were former Mr Universe winners. Sergio was Mr Olympia from 1967 to 1969.

Next day we taped a pumping and posing film with Sergio at poolside which will be edited and released as part of the Sergio Oliva Super DVD, some time in 2008.

3rd placed Pro competitor BILL GRANT has his own training DVD which is available from GMV. Bill is also in our pumping and posing DVD with Harold Dickinson and Serge Jacobs. Harold was 6th in the Short Class.

1970 & 1971 NABBA Universe

1970 and a still young Arnold Schwarzenegger wins his final NABBA crown in England. A very historic film.

You'll also see Franco Columbu, Frank Colombera, Johnny Fuller, Chris Dickerson, Boyer Coe, Dave Draper, Reg Park, Al Beckles, John Citrone, Walter O'Malley, Helmut Riedmeier, Brian Eastman & Frank Richard.

And also on this tape the 1971 NABBA Universe - the Amateur winner was Ken Waller the Professional winner was Bill Pearl. Also includes Frank Zane, Reg Park and the great Sergio Oliva.

Special note: Please bear with us on this great classic. It was shot under conditions that today just wouldn't be tolerated. The lighting was poor, and given the technology of the day the quality is the best we can achieve under the circumstances. Shot on film, transferred to video, and music added.

Jon Pall Sigmarsson: Larger Than Life
(April 28, 1960 – January 16, 1993)

Champions come and go, but legends never die! The documentary dvd movie “Larger Than Life” ...the story of Jón Páll Sigmarsson, is a great film about the real Viking of the 20th Century, and one of the greatest sportsman ever alive. Jón Páll was a weightlifter and powerlifter from Iceland, who won the World's Strongest Man Competition four times (1984, 1986, 1988 and 1990).

Jón Páll life was in some ways, a fairy-tale. As a local celebrity, he appeared regularly in the media. The Icelanders liked his public presence to a large extent and enjoyed his popular one-liners. Many of his remarks are still well known in Iceland, and one of those became the title of the Jón Páll documentary, “Þetta er ekkert mál fyrir Jón Pál” ...The meaning would be: “This is no problem for Jón Páll” It happened live on the Icelandic television, at the time Jón Páll was setting a European record in weightlifting.

In a tragic irony, he died at the age of 32 (January 16, 1993), while exercise in the gym. He knew he had serious heart problems in his family and was aware of this weakness. He will always be remembered as peaceful, caring, nice and a loving man and one of the greatest strength athletes of his time.

In this film we follow Jon Pall from his childhood to glorious victories, we hear about his lovelife, the illness that finally defeated him, the gossip and accusations of steroid use, his role as a father and finally his last moments in the gym.

Four-time World's Strongest Man winner Jon Pall Sigmarsson was the larger-than-life Icelandic strongman whose story was captured in this powerful documentary by the team of Hjalti Arnason and Steingrimur Thordarson. In its portrayal of this Icelandic legend, this film broke new ground, capturing Jon Pall's life from childhood to death, combining actual clips with wonderful re-enactments. ("How did they get that footage of Jon Pall as a child?"). Lighting the strongman world on fire, the DVD’s impact has been far greater as well, setting box office and DVD sales records in Iceland, and capturing the attention of the film industry beyond the world of strength and far from the Land of Fire and Ice.

The premiere of the film, held in Reykjavik in 2006, was attended by Icelandic President Olafur Ragnar Grimsson, as well as guests from around the world. Now, for the first time, the Jon Pall documentary is available on DVD and in English. If you are a strength athlete, fan, coach or just want to see an excellent film on a remarkable person, put this DVD at the top of your list.

Jón Páll Sigmarsson bio (April 28, 1960 – January 16, 1993) Jon Pall was a strongman, a powerlifter, an excellent bodybuilder and weightlifter from Iceland who won the World's Strongest Man Competition four times (1984, 1986, 1988, 1990). In 1984 Sigmarsson won the Icelandic bodybuilding title in the +90 kg. class. His achievements in powerlifting also include Icelandic records in the bench press and the squat, but his best performances were usually in the deadlift event, in which he set the European record many times.

A famous quote from him is "there is no point in being alive if you cannot do the deadlift". In a tragic irony, he died at the age of 32 while performing this exercise in the gym. He knew he had serious heart problems in his family and was aware of this weakness. He will always be remembered as one of the greatest strength athletes of his time and probably of all time. He used to shout, "I am not an Eskimo, I am a Viking!" Two other famous quotes are, "I am in seventh heaven" which was his translation of an Icelandic saying, and "Ekkert mál fyrir Jón Pál" which roughly translates as "It's no problem for Jón Páll".

He pumps and flexes his arms and shoulders to a rippling vein-bulging muscle climax; a shattering display of muscle-pump agony.

An awesome and very, very rugged display of muscular arms from every angle – oiled and fully pumped – filmed in extreme close-up detail.

Charles is now a Personal Trainer to the champions.

Once again, this was shot in the studio on the actual day that KONSTANTINE SPANOUDIS won the 1981 Overall Teen Mr. USA title.

Kon also won the light-Heavyweight Class in this event. The previous year Konstantino (as he is now called) won the 1980 Mr. Eastern America - AAU, Teen Tall Class.

He is ripped, showing incredible shape, and was the sensation of the contest – a solid and clear winner who immediately captured the audience.

This is a photographic study in classic Greek symmetry, with graceful posing, flawless skin, and aesthetic presentation. Surely a future top champion.

In direct contrast to the rugged, brutal muscle show presented by Jesse, JIM SACCHETTI presents the beautiful, symmetrical muscular physique in a posing presentation that will leave you gasping.

Jim has perfected his posing to the point of virtually being a young Frank Zane.

Jim’s superb posing style and startling full-flexed muscularity provide a magnificent combination of great muscle and beautiful presentation.

And, there are plenty of close-ups of super muscle and several shots of abdominal muscle control. In our humble opinion, this segment of Jim could become one of the finest muscle movies in many years. It is destined to be regarded as a classic.

Natural bodybuilding is increasingly popular and many customers have asked for videos of natural physique men. ROBERT PITTMAN of Louisiana is a top natural bodybuilder in current competition. He is 28 years old and has been in heavy training for six years.

Robert is an experienced outdoorsman as well as a pilot. He presently works as a watchmaker. In this DVD Robert presents hard muscularity, perfect proportions and graceful posing.

1974 NABBA MR. UNIVERSE - THE SHOW

The 26th NABBA Universe contest was staged at the wonderful New Victoria Theatre situated in the heart of London, on Saturday, 21st September, 1974.

This DVD includes Amateurs and Professionals with posing by the biggest stars such as Roy Duval, Chris Dickerson, Ian Lawrence, Ron Thompson, Pete Caputo, Bill Richardson, Elias Petsas, Bill Trotter, Helmut Riedmeier and many more.

Overall winner Chris Dickerson (left) and Roy Duval are pictured front cover. Rear cover photos highlight the battle between Chris Dickerson and Pro runner up Boyer Coe. It was a very close thing with Chris coming out on top by the narrowest of margins.
